Feb. 22nd and Feb. 23rd saw Europe's best riders descend upon the resort town of Livigno to compete in burn River Jump and for their chance to take home some of the $50,000 prize pot that was up for grabs. burn Units Staale Sandbech and Ulrik Badertscher both excelled at the 5 star TTR event; Badertscher missing out on the River Jump title by just one point.
At burn Slopestyle, 3 kickers, a burn jib can and a punch bag feature made the renowned Mottolino snow park a virtual playground for riders. Ulrik Badertscher stomped an incredible run early on in the contest, with a Hardway'360'180'off' / 'Backside'Air' / 'Backside'1080' / 'Backside' Rodeo'900' / 'Cab’1080'. While this was enough to keep Badertscher in first position for much of the contest, it was fellow Norwegian, Emil Ulsletten, who claimed victory in the final run.
The burn River Jump Big Air contest delivered suspense in equal measure. With Livigno's River Spoel providing the setting, the world's best riders gave onlookers a masterclass in professional snowboarding, the crowd getting behind local favorites Marco Grigis and Giorgio Ciancaleoni in particular. burn Units Staale Sandbech and Ulrik Badertscher battled it out head-to-head in the last few runs of the contest. In the grand final, Roope Tonteri (FIN) rightfully claimed the burn River Jump title with a cab 12 / BS 5 / front lip 270 out, which saw burn Unit Ulrik Badertscher receive his second podium spot of the competition; a solid 2nd.
"I'm super stoked," said Badertscher. "It was a close one at the finish, going head to head with Staale and then Roope.... I'm still buzzing from the final. I am super happy with two 2nd places in the contest."
